Overview

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se was founded durring the early 13th century in spring of the year 1210, by Èdsí Hughan. The establishment of Gàj̼sobtíhw Se was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Èdsí Hughan struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Gàj̼sobtíhw Se as a prison colony.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Gàj̼sobtíhw Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se is buildings have been located at convienant points along the rivers Gàj̼sobtíhw Se was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the broad paverstone streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town lacks any defencive features, though certainly constructing even a simple fence or digging a ditch is at the forefront of the 's mind. At least, one would hope so.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes. Yet there are small elements here and there which show the underlying structure of the community. It’s just so complex, organic, and flowing one can only understand what is a piece of the puzzle, but not what its neighbors are.

Civic Infrastructure

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Gàj̼sobtíhw Se. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Gàj̼sobtíhw Se's parks.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Gàj̼sobtíhw Se.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Gàj̼sobtíhw Se's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Gàj̼sobtíhw Se's natural decorations nor waterways.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se's locals are divided into several castes. They may be organized by social role, by imputed nobility of birth, by ethnic origins, or any other dividing principle, but they cannot imagine any other way of organizing themselves. A hierarchy of castes is not inevitable, but there will be social and legal limits applied to ensure that each caste remains fixed in its function. The outside world may or may not respect these distinctions when dealing with the locals.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

In Gàj̼sobtíhw Se sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

The Serpentfolk near Gàj̼sobtíhw Se are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Gàj̼sobtíhw Se's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves consuming a local narcotic to channel Transmutation energies of tier 2 via throat singing.
